In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment – Portable Appliance Testing

This qualification is aimed at those with responsibilities for the maintenance of electrical equipment and for those undertaking practical inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
It allows those with the responsibility for the testing and inspection of electrical equipment to gain a qualification suitable to their job role.

The 2377-77 Level 3 Award in the In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment Qualification from City & Guilds is the latest “Pat Testing” Qualification replacing the older 2377-22 and 2377-32.

Course Content

  • understand the statutory and non-statutory requirements relevant to electrical equipment maintenance.
  • understand electrical units, circuits, components and definitions associated with in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
  • understand how equipment construction and classification reduces the risk of electric shock.
  • understand the procedures for the in service inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
  • understand why and how to carry out inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
  • understand the information relating to in service inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
  • understand the responsibilities and training requirements for personnel associated with the inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
  • be able to inspect and test items of electrical equipment.

Aim

The qualification provides under pinning knowledge to comply with current legislation and the new requirements laid out in this new code of practice.

Participants

This qualification is aimed at those with responsibilities for “PAT – Portable Appliance Testing” whose correct term is the In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment for the maintenance of electrical equipment and for those undertaking practical inspection and testing of electrical equipment.

It allows those with the responsibility for the testing and inspection of electrical equipment to gain a qualification suitable to their job role.

Certification

Candidates undertake an Online Multiple Choice Test and Practical Assessment to gain the qualification issued by City & Guilds.
