The IPAF 3A, 3B, & 1B training course is to teach you how to operate a range of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) including scissor lifts, boom lifts and static boom lifts.
Classifications are as follows:
Static Boom (1b, 1b+)
Static booms are any self-propelled boom, trailers/push around or vehicle-mounted platforms; these machines may have outriggers attached to them.
Mobile Vertical (3a, 3a+)
Mobile verticals are any mobile scissor lifts or vertical mobile personnel platforms.

Aim
To ensure operator competence when operating MEWPS to classification Scissor & Boom 3A, 3B and 1B
This course is designed for the operators of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) – including static booms, mobile booms, and scissor lifts – and those looking to renew their operator licences
Participants
Candidates will be required to have a level of literacy that enables them to fully understand safety notices and manufacturer’s instruction manuals.
Candidates also need to be physically fit, in good health and should not have problems with eyesight or hearing as the course involves the operating of MEWPs.
No formal qualifications are required.
For the practical session candidates will need suitable head (hard hat with a chin strap is preferable), eye and footwear including a hi-vis jacket/vest, harness and lanyard, with short adjustable lanyard.
Certification
A Certificate of Competence from the Awarding Body shall be issued
